The present Halstead in Bloom was formed in 1999 with the aim of clearing, cleaning and brightening Halstead for the benefit of residents, those who work in the Town and our many visitors.
We are a team of volunteers, and in the past three we have formed a partnership with Braintree District Council and Halstead Town Council and this close co-operation has given the Town success in the Anglia in Bloom competition. In 2004, 2005, 2006,2007 and 2008 Halstead has been awarded Silver-Gilt status being judged against other communities across the six counties of the East
GOOD NEWS! In Anglia in Bloom 2009 Halstead was awarded GOLD and was also judged Best Town. This is an excellent result for Halstead, and should help to get extra visitors into the Town.
MORE GOOD NEWS!
HALSTEAD IS NAMED AS A BRITAIN IN BLOOM FINALIST FOR 2010
At the recent Anglia in Bloom seminar, held in Norwich, it was announced that HALSTEAD
would represent the Anglia region in the Town section of the Britian in Bloom competition
2010.
That means that Halstead will be judged by Anglia in Bloom in July, and will then host a tour by the Britian in Bloom judges in August.
For Halstead this will mean National publicity that should bring more visitors to the Town.
It will also mean some extra work for HiB, and for all those who work to make the Town a cleaner, greener place - but it will all be worth it to get that extra publicity for HALSTEAD.
If you'd like to join this successful team, and can help with maintenance of floral displays, or pick up litter, or get involved on the fund raising/administrative side please contact our Chairman, Michael Portway on 01787 223733 or Secretary, Julia Smith on 01787 460852 or e-mail

If you can give 5 minutes a day, or just a bit longer each week your time will be well spent and Halstead will benefit.
The most important thing about Halstead in Bloom is HALSTEAD
