Alternative routes will be signed; access to properties will be maintained, but maybe subject to delay.

Halstead Hopper Bus

HOSPITAL HOPPER

Braintree District Council’s community transport team has launched a year long pilot initiative, with help from Essex County Council, to fund a Hospital Hopper Service that will take to the road from Monday 20th February 2012. The Hospital Hopper will offer a free and direct ‘shuttle service’ for any person with a concessionary bus pass who is unable to access conventional public transport to travel to Broomfield, Braintree Community or Halstead hospitals. For people with disabilities, elderly or those unable to walk a door-to-door service can be arranged. Dogs that assist disabled people are welcome and travel free. Escorts are welcome but they will need to show a valid bus pass or pay the fare.   The service will run from Monday to Friday, up to three times per day – depending on local need. The service is also available to those without a concessionary bus pass on payment of fares.

Areas served by the Hopper are: Castle Hedingham, Sible Hedingham, Gosfield, Halstead, Greenstead Green, Earls Colne, White Colne, Colne Engaine and Braintree.

To book a site or enquire about fares for non concessionary bus pass holders, call 01376 327357 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Spaces will be allocated on a first come – first served basis passengers are advised to book as soon as their appointment date is known. More details can be found at www.braintree.gov.uk/communitytransport

Freedom of Information Act 2005

                                                                                                                                        Date: 2nd February 2009

Freedom of Information Act 2005

The Freedom of Information Act came into force at the beginning of 2005 and encourages greater openness and transparency across the whole public sector.  The Act provides individuals or organisations with the right to request information held by a public authority.  It has led to the disclosure of a significant amount of information to the public which would otherwise have remained secret.

The Act obliges every public authority to adopt an approved Publication Scheme from 1st January 2009.  At their recent meeting, Halstead Town Council adopted the Model Publication Scheme recommended by the Information Commissioner's Office and set the cost of copies provided under the Model Scheme at 5p per A4 copy.

Adoption will not alter anything we do as a Town Council - we always make committee agendas and minutes available free of charge on our website:

http://www.halsteadtowncouncil.co.uk/

Full budgetary information is also available.
A copy of the Model Publication Scheme is available for inspection at Reception in Mill House

                                                                                                                                           M C Murkin, Town Clerk
