SENIOR CITIZENS OUTINGS 2010.

Application forms for the Outings 2010 are now available from Halstead Town Council Office.
These outings are open to all residents of Halstead who are over 60 and/or claiming state retirement pension.

This year the trips have been arranged as follows:

Wednesday 5^th May                 -     Bedford
Wednesday 2^nd June               -    Great Yarmouth
Wednesday 7^th July                 -     Canterbury
Wednesday 8^th September     -     Cromer
Wednesday 6^th October          -     Norwich

Cost is £7.50 per person, per trip and forms must be returned to the Town Council Office, Mill House, The Causeway, Halstead, CO9 1ET between 1^st March and 14^th April 2010.

TRINITY  STREET CLOSURE
Essex Council Council has advised that Trinity Street, Halstead, will be closed from Monday 22^nd March to Friday 26^th March 2010 between the hours of 8p.m. to 6a.m.
Road will be closed from its junction with Chapel Hill in a generally easterly direction to its junction with New Street for an approximate distance of 104 metres.
Access to property will be maintained to properties during the closure.
The zebra crossing is to be upgraded, some of the kerb line is to be renewed and there will be new carriageway markings, new signs and anti-skid surfacing.
Alternative routes will be signed - A131 High Garrett, A1017 Gosfield Road, A1017 Hedingham Road and A131.

The event this year was very successful and hundreds of people joined Mayor David Hume, Councillors and Church Leaders in blessing of the Crib at Market Hill and then followed the band of the Salvation Army to the Public Gardens for the Annual Carol Service.
The 425 lit torches and 200 glo-sticks, provided free by Halstead Town Council, that were carried by those in the procession made an impressive sight - a truly festive beginning to the Christmas season.
A collection taken on the night for the Mayor's charities - The Essex Air Ambulance and Halstead Community First Responders - raised the magnificent sum of £789.05, Mayor Hume would like to thank all who contributed.
